ECharts Day-Hour Heatmap
A Cartesian heatmap with day-of-week on one axis and hour-of-day on the other — each cell is a coloured tile whose intensity encodes the metric for that day-hour bucket. Distinct from the existing GitHub-style calendar heatmap (#37) which has a year on the x-axis and a single val

When to use this template
This visualization excels at revealing recurring weekly and daily patterns in a quantitative metric. Analysts use it to quickly identify peak and off-peak periods, understand cyclical behaviors, and pinpoint specific day-hour combinations where an event or activity is most prevalent or scarce.
- Data with two distinct categorical time dimensions: day of week and hour of day.
- A single quantitative metric aggregated for each unique day-hour combination.
- Metric values representing counts, rates, averages, or intensities.
- Datasets where identifying weekly periodicity and daily rhythms is the primary goal.
- Data collected over a sufficient period (e.g., weeks or months) to establish stable patterns.
- When direct comparison of cell values is as important as overall color patterns.
