When to use this template
This visualization helps identify patterns, outliers, and relative performance across multiple regions and metrics simultaneously. An analyst would use it to quickly spot which regions excel or underperform on specific indicators, or to find clusters of regions with similar profiles across a suite of measures.
- Tabular data with distinct categorical dimensions for rows and columns.
- Quantitative values representing intensity, magnitude, or normalized scores.
- Moderate number of regions (e.g., 10-50) and metrics/time points (e.g., 5-20).
- Data where relative comparison of values across categories is the primary goal.
- Metrics that are comparable or can be normalized for cross-region comparison.
- Datasets with a clear regional or geographical grouping.
